Our guest today in Once a Bear, Always a Bear, is a man who sits right up there among the all-time Warwickshire legends…Dougie Brown.
Dougie, many thanks for joining us. What are your earliest memories of cricket, either playing or watching the game?
I first watched Clackmannan County play, from a distance as I wasn’t a cricketer until I was 13, turning 14. I used to watch my mates’ dads play but I never played myself at that stage. I remember the very first game I played - an Under 13s game against Ayr in the Scottish Cup on a Wednesday night. I remember running in and bowling on a typical, dark Scottish evening and that is my first memory of playing a cricket match!
