This week we welcome on Once a Bear, Always a Bear, Gordon Lord. Gordon has unfurled an immense career in coaching and mentoring both in cricket and beyond. Before that career took flight, however, the foundation for it was laid at Edgbaston where he played for Warwickshire from 1983 to 1986.
Gordon, many thanks for joining us. What are your earliest memories of cricket?
Watching my dad play in a game at Rowington CC. Me and my two brothers sat there with my mum on the grass and it was just wonderful. I loved the smell of the grass and the fun of the game and the competitiveness. I would have been seven or eight and there was something that just drew me to it. I can still see it like it was yesterday and remember thinking, ‘I like this.’
