This week on ‘Once a Bear, Always a Bear,’ we welcome Richard Johnson whose wicketkeeping and batting skills helped Warwickshire to Lord’s glory in 2010 and the County Championship title in 2012.
Richard, many thanks for joining us from Down Under – we’re delighted that things are going so well for you, including in an interesting, brand new direction, over in Aus.
What are your earliest memories of cricket, either playing or watching the game?
My earliest memories are of watching my dad play local cricket for Birmingham Co-op. I also remember him throwing balls to me in the nets at Knowle and Dorridge Cricket Club before we’d spend the afternoon sitting together watching the senior players. Looking back, those are really special memories and probably where my love for the game began.
