This week on Once a Bear, Always a Bear, we are delighted to welcome Warwickshire legend Rikki Clarke. A pivotal member of the Bears' 2012 Championship-winning side, Rikki was a true top-class all-rounder, able to change games with bat, ball or in the field as one of the best slip-fielders to ever represent the county.
Rikki, many thanks for joining us. What are your earliest memories of cricket, either playing or watching the game?
My earliest memories are basically of being around a cricket ground. I started going to my local club, Godalming, when I was about four. My dad was playing and my mum was doing the teas, so cricket was just part of family life. I was always around a bat and a ball, whether I was watching Dad play or having a go myself. Looking back, I think that early exposure was hugely important because cricket never felt like something I had to do, it was something I genuinely loved being around.
