You only had to have witnessed Vansh Jani’s List A debut to be excited.
Coming to the crease at Scarborough last year, with Warwickshire 24/5 in their One Day Cup bout with Yorkshire, there was an instant pressure on Jani to produce.
Well, it may have been interpreted by others as pressure. Jani just appeared to see it as an opportunity to score runs and showcase both his situational play and his shot selection.
The Bears slipped to an almost inevitable defeat on the day, having been bowled out for under 140, but Jani’s 82 accounted for well over half of his side’s runs and the internal excitement which met his arrival was suddenly understandable.
