Two great cricketers in conflict, and the anticipation was tangible amongst the big Wednesday-morning crowd at New Road as, the home side having chosen to bat, England’s pace spearhead charged in to bowl the first ball of the game to New Zealand’s masterful opening batter. Willis launched the match with a rapid, fizzing bouncer. Turner swayed out of the way and the ball thudded into the gloves of wicketkeeper Geff Humpage. Game on!
