Bears shape up strong in South Africa ahead of 2026 season

Warwickshire head coach Ian Westwood is well-satisfied with the way his squad shaped up during their pre-season stay in South Africa.
The Bears are now back in Birmingham with a couple of warm-up games in the next week to further hone their fitness and form ahead of the championship opener against Surrey at Edgbaston starting on April 3.
With a squad of greater depth than the Bears have enjoyed for some years and, as it stands, everybody expected to be fit and available - the only two minor niggles at present are Sam Hain (hamstring) and Che Simmons (knee) - the composition of the team against Surrey is far from certain. That is a nice position to be in after a few seasons in which in the bowling department, at times, it's been a question of Olly Hannon-Dalby and who else?
