Ian Westwood says Sam Hain is making good progress in his efforts to return from injury and play a part in Warwickshire’s County Championship run-in - but the Bears will have to do without him for at least this week’s visit of Sussex to Edgbaston.

With the Blast, the One Day Cup and the Hundred all now put to bed for another season, the Bears’ collective focus is now very much on the longest form of the game as they intensify their attempts to claim a title they last won in 2021.

The Bears will resume their red-ball campaign sitting in third, five points behind leaders and reigning champions Nottinghamshire and still very much in the mix for the Championship crown, but key man Hain - due to captain the side for the duration of the One Day Cup prior to picking up a knee injury - will be an absentee this week.
