Halliday delighted to make surprise 11,350-mile trip to join Bears

Last Saturday night, Brooke Halliday went to bed in Auckland thinking a few weeks of home time and light training lay ahead. She had not long returned to her native New Zealand from England after featuring in her country’s ODI and T20I tour and then the World Cup.
Early on Sunday morning her phone buzzed with a message from Warwickshire’s General Manager (Team Performance) Paul Greetham. Before Sunday was done, she was on a plane back to England.
The Bears had reached out having been abruptly left with an overseas player vacancy after Pratika Rawal was called up as an injury replacement to India’s Women’s Asia Cup squad. Greetham moved quickly, Halliday responded immediately and on Wednesday the 30-year-old all-rounder played a significant part in Warwickshire’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup win over Yorkshire at Edgbaston.
