A barnstorming 40 from dynamic opener Vansh Jani and an excellent final over from 20-year-old all-rounder Theo Wylie booked Warwickshire’s place in the Final of the 2026 2nd XI T20 Cup with a dramatic 1-run victory over the Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Wormsley.
Having been put in to bat first by their East Midlands opposition, the Bears got off to a somewhat shaky start to their powerplay when opener Omaris Khan (5) fell to the bowling of right-arm seamer Raphy Weatherall (3/19) with the score reading a meagre 6/1 midway through the second over of the innings.
Off the back of this early wicket though, the West Midlands outfit soon began to wrestle back some semblance of control, in large part due to the destructive exploits of Berkswell young gun Vansh Jani, who blitzed a quickfire 40 from just 19 deliveries alongside the likes of Hamza Shaikh (14) and Alex Davies (35) to take his side to a far more stable scoreline of 65/2 at the culmination of the 7th over.
