Sportspeople are accustomed to vicissitudes. A long career in sport inevitably brings highs and lows and successful sportspeople deal with them.
Olly Hannon-Dalby has done that with resilience, quality and graciousness over the years – the last 13 with Warwickshire - but he was not expecting to have to deal with the two extremes of sporting fortune in the first half of the 2026 season. Yet that is what happened in a strange couple of months for 'OHD.'
Linchpin of Warwickshire's bowling attack for years, the 37-year-old found himself deemed surplus to first-team requirements and sent out on loan to Worcestershire. For a bowler who has pretty much carried the Bears' attack at times in the last decade, to be placed so far down the pecking order was as baffling as it was bizarre.
