Shaikh brilliance takes Bears 2nds to vital victory

Warwickshire 2nd XI took a huge stride towards T20 qualification with an emphatic five-wicket victory over Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Portland Road.
On a blistering day, the Bears did well to restrict the home side to 171 for seven before reaching 174 for five with 18 balls to spare.
The Steelbacks chose to bat and started strongly as David Willey (26, 21) and Lewis McManus (69, 45) added 61 from 39 balls. As soon as Willey fell to Usman Tariq, however, the innings lost momentum which it never fully regained. Tariq took three for 21 from his four overs and was well-supported by Theo Wylie (3-0-32-2), Taz Ali ((4-0-35-1) and Olly Hannon-Dalby (3-0-18-1).
