Head Coach Ian Westwood believes Warwickshire are “in the mix, 100 per cent” for the Rothesay County Championship title as they prepare for a huge game against Division One leaders Nottinghamshire at Edgbaston tomorrow.
The Bears sit third in the table, just five points behind reigning champions Notts, as the championship season heads into its run-in with the top seven teams separated by just 28 points. With five games left, the title could still end up in any of Nottingham, Taunton, Birmingham, Cardiff, Hove, Leeds or Chelmsford. That remarkable equation vividly illustates the value of the County Championship, the most revered and respected domestic red-ball competition in the world – and Westwood is delighted that his team is in the thick of this year’s gripping denouement.
