We head to Trent Bridge with confidence high after a great win over Essex, says Jordan Thompson

As we look at the table after three matches, we have a healthy points tally and have picked up a good chunk of bonus points too, with the game at Sussex that could’ve easily gone our way, but for some good batting by Jack Leaning and Tom Price to see them home.

Surrey at home in the first round of fixtures was a match that we looked at as a tough start, but also one that we felt like we could get something from. The ‘Browncaps’ secured the three-peat not too long ago and are a formidable opponent in red ball cricket but there’s no better time to play someone than first game of the season, hopefully catching them cold. And that’s what we did on the first morning as they fell to 60-6, with some great bowling in helpful conditions. However, they played some counter attacking knocks and got themselves past the 300 mark. The lads contributed throughout our innings to get us to a very good total of 544 with Dan Mousley scoring his maiden Bears 100, something the lads were absolutely over the moon to see but also relieved to see him get that monkey off his back - hopefully there’s many more to follow.
