Chris Woakes admits that “all options were on the table” last winter when injury forced his retirement from international cricket - but ultimately the biggest pull was from unfinished business with his beloved Warwickshire.
The Bears all-rounder, who played 62 Test matches and 155 white-ball games for England, did have last winter’s Ashes series very much on his radar. But a wrecked shoulder, sustained in the field in the Test against India at The Oval last July, changed all that.
