Rob Yates is enjoying the challenges of captaincy – and keen to keep up the momentum after leading Warwickshire to successive wins in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Yates took on the captain’s role after Ed Barnard was lost to The Hundred and then Sam Hain, skipper in the first One-Day Cup group game, suffered a knee injury. His challenges included turning the team’s fortunes around after starting the group with three defeats and there has been an upturn. Wins in the last two games, against Surrey at Edgbaston and Gloucestershire at Rugby School have kept the Bears in contention for the knockout stage.
