Warwickshire's visit to Chelmsford to face Essex next week is eagerly awaited by the whole squad. With just two games to go, the Bears, in blistering form, are very much in contention for the most valued prize in county cricket - the Rothesay County Championship title.
All the players are buzzing, For one however, the Essex match has an extra special resonance. Dan Mousley will be returning to the ground where he made his Bears debut as a 18-year-old, fresh out of school.
In July 2019, Warwickshire, skippered by Jeetan Patel, travelled to Chelmsford (where Norman Kilner scored Warwickshire's first first-class run at the venue on their inaugural visit in 1929) to face a powerful Essex side including Alastair Cook, Simon Harmer and Peter Siddle. Mousley, a week past his 18th birthday and having just left Bablake School, Coventry, was thrilled to be included in the squad. Then the team bus arrived in Chelmsford and news got even better.
