Taylor shines on his 'dream' home debut

Charlie Taylor described his Warwickshire home debut as a “dream come true” after he helped the Bears to Metro Bank One-Day Cup victory over Surrey at Edgbaston.
The Bears kick-started their 50-over campaign into life with a 45-run win over the Brown Caps and 16-year-old Taylor played a significant part. Ed Barnard’s brilliant century lifted Warwickshire to a meaty 341 for four but they still had to bowl well to defend that target on a good batting wicket. They did that.
Olly Hannon-Dalby closed the game out superbly with death bowling which brought him five wickets but those wickets owed plenty to the pressure on Surrey’s batters to score at 11 an over late on. And that pressure owed plenty to an excellent early spell from Taylor. He tied the batters down and picked up his first senior wicket for the Bears, Rory Burns, thanks to a stunning catch by George Garton at backward point.
